Multiple sclerosis cured with a hunter/gatherer diet

is an inspiring TEDx talk by Dr. Terry Wahls. She was a national Taekwondo chamption and physician, but in 2003 was diagnosed with incurable secondary progressive multiple sclerosis. Her health worsened and she was confined to a wheelchair. It seemed inevitable that she would soon become totally bedridden. Unwilling to go gently into that dark night, she studied the brain disease literature and in 2007 started eating foods known to support mitochondria. She settled on a hunter/gatherer diet with lots of green veggies like kale, sulfur containing veggies like cabbage and onions, colored veggies like peppers, berries, grass-fed meat, organ meats, wild caught fish, and seaweed. She ate no grains, sugar, dairy or processed foods. This diet in conjunction with electrical stimulation led to her dramatic recovery (described in this medical case report). She was able to get out of her wheelchair and to live an active life again. The diet is described in detail in her book and she says recent clinical trials with others have been “breathtaking”!
