This is a great quote. I hadn't considered that truly understanding the meaning of life would trigger immediate action aligned with the new found sense of purpose. I tend to think of "discovering the meaning of life" as a more contemplative undertaking, but it's probably more likely to be discovered "in flow" and action. Certainly Randy Pausch's "Last Lecture" (http://www.thelastlecture.com/) is an example of someone fully living their life and imparting some hard won wisdom in the process.

So true! I supplement w/flax daily. The fish oil didn't go down too well (or come up to yum, which was more of the problem). However, there are also lots of tasty options like raw ground flax- tastes great on cereal & yogurt; oils & spreads- non-hydrogenated of course; and the best form and my main source of protein- WILD fish! Its more available and affordable than most think. I truly believe the words "teach a man to fish..." were relating more to than just food in the belly.

There are lots of essential acids that we aren't producing like we used too due to lack of proper nutrition (and proper awareness). More conciousness in that field in regards to a well rounded nutrition system would be wonderful! People seem to want to walk the concious road when given the ability to understand, options and directions.

The way it came out sounds interesting too, however I have no doubt in the power & capacity of the human mind, it is a beautiful gift! (once again disguised as work!)

Thank you so much Steve, this is wonderful information that I really needed right now! Great links & simple, effective practices to help re-center and re-focus!

Its interesting to see that breath is the spirit's natural way to balance out and transcend internal yin & yang. Being aware of that at all times and trusting in it while exercising the ability is our mind's daily balancing act to master. Both yoga and martial arts have been powerful ways for me to realize those skills as well. I believe in strength of spirit and mind of matter; and like with anything, the more we practice, the more we strengthen that skill.. breathing feels like a wonderfully natural way to start!

What a great story, and one that resonates with me personally. I wasn't as deft as the mother in your story, but whenever my son spilled or dropped something I never made a big deal of it. I think it makes all the difference in the world for the child to allow mistakes and to offer choices. Thanks for a good read!

"There is a vitality, a life force, an energy, a quickening,
that is translated through you into action,
and because there is only one of you in all of time,
this expression is unique."

I can not agree with this more! It's a theme that runs through my work. I'm so impressed by the high caliber of your Quotes, Steve. Thank you for this one.

I'm captivated by this poem. The following lines are great -

"You, sent out beyond your recall,
go to the limits of your longing.
Embody me."

I have said as much in my poem entitled, Life just is which you can read at Poemeister but here's a tease:

Life
it being a force,
a sea of arms, legs, jacking jaws
all moving to the same beat
                as breathing,
each its own snowflake
here, by the grace of God
we go

I believe each of us has a purpose here that God breathed into us as he made us. I love poetry that affirms life and our spiritual nature. We are spirit - wearing these clunky carcasses so we can "see" each other. *grin*

I've thoroughly enjoyed reading your Quote page and Biography. I worked for a small group of scientists, geophysicists and seismologists, and a former asst. director to the director of the DoD who was very into artificial intelligence. He edited the first edition of the Handbook of Nuclear Weapons Effects (EM-1) which was a fascinating read. Not! Based on subject matter only, it's pretty disturbing. Anyway, that, and the fact you're a massage therapist resonates with me because I personally know a lot about massage therapy, vicariously, from my own therapeutic massage therapist during my once a week session over five years. I can't mention her name other than to say the Washington Redskins wanted her but she declined due to her private clientile. I think I'm her poster child. *smile* I wish people knew more about massage therapy and its lasting benefits to the body, mind and spirit. It's all connected and some miraculous things can happen during a long course of it. She's the first person I go to and I totally by-pass chiropractic care because it doesn't address the whole body. Oh, my goodness, I'm sorry to rattle on like this. I could espouse the many, many benefits of massage therapy and never get tired. Knowing you're a massage therapist tells me so much about you and what drives you. Okay, I'll stop now. I don't want to overstay my visit here. I'll be coming back because I like what I see/sense here. *big smile*

"I’m amazed you found my newly birthed site so quickly."

I'm like a heat-seeking missile for excellent poetry. heh heh

I can't tell you how happy I am to be introduced to Jewel Mathieson's poetry. Now, I must go check out the link you provided and swoon again. Some rare ether, that. I hope you don't mind if I link to your site and share my good fortune with my readers.

And please feel welcome to come to my site and give me some constructive criticism. It's the only way to whittle away the crap. I think I b*mbed with Ode to Maggie because of its length. It's the longest piece I've written and would love to get some feedback on whether it works.

Do you also write poetry?

Just an aside: I once knew a ME man named Kabir who was some sort of psychic. He told me when I was a young pup that I should not marry until I've dated 10 men. He said that way I'll have learned about the 10 personalities attributable to men and would be able to make a wise choice based on my experience with the different types. Far out, huh? I also liked the Kabir poem, I've burned my own house down.

Janet,

I'm so glad you like it! And I'm amazed you found my newly birthed site so quickly. Your poetmeister page looks wonderful.

Jewel is a great poet:

http://www.shop5rhythms.com/this-dance-a-poultice-of-poems-by-jewel-mathieson.html

and is quite involved with the 5 Rhythms dance. More of her poetry also appears in Gabrielle Roth's gem of a book: "Connections, The Five Threads of Intuitive Wisdom".

Gabrielle says: "I remember the first time Jewel burst into my vision – liquid motion, raw passion. Her poetry rocks! In her surrender, I have seen god with my own ears."
